HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DAD! ...............and.... FANTASTIC NEWS!

Today's Dad's birthday, (Happy Birthday Old Man!!)  and we all received a wonderful gift from his doctor! He had an appointment this morning, where they discussed the results of his last scan.

As you remember, besides several small nodules, Dad had one on each lung which were significantly larger than the rest.  What we learned today, was that the nodule on his left lung which was 3.5cm is now only 2.7cm, and the one on his right, which was 3.9cm, is now only2.7cm! The small nodules are all a bit smaller as well!!!!

Dad has just finished his 3rd round of "Glow Pills" and now gets two weeks off before beginning Round 4.

This year has been quite the roller coaster ride for all of us, in more ways than one. Thank you to everyone for keeping Dad & the rest of us in your thoughts and prayers.  It's obviously helping!

It's because of your continued love and support, along with Dad's staunch courage and stubbornness, and Mom's continuous devotion, that this arrogant little monster we call cancer doesn't stand a chance!!!

Happy New Year!
Love you all!
Mindy

Howdy All,
 Hope this finds everone well.
Well we're starting week 3 of the GLOW PILLS.
So far so good still have my taste buds, but my mouth burns when I drink a Pepsi (bummer). Other wise I feel pretty good, had a couple of down days, but I think that's because the stupped time hasn't changed yet. my body still has the rancher mentality, up at daylite and bed at dark. If ya wanted to go fishin you get up before daylite, didn't have to set yer clock ahead or back to do it.
Well I better get after it before the catches me.

Howdy All,
Well here we are going on a week of taking my GLOW PILLS (I started last Thurs. )
Everything is going well, I’ve been able go to work, in fact I’ve been working 9hr. days to help offset my Dr. Appointments. (I go in next Wed.)

So far the only side affects I’ve noticed has been a slight metallic taste.
Still got all my hair and haven’t turned YELLOW yet, guess you’ll have to wait a while to call me Old Yeller.

Thanks for all yer LOVE and support; we’ll keep you up dated.

From the kids...

Dear Family & Friends,

If you are visiting this website, you are well aware of the battle our family is about to begin. We feel very fortunate to have such a massive support system that creating this blog is necessary. There are so many people who love our dad that if we were to call everyone who cares for him in order to keep them updated we would be on the phone 24/7.

The family grapevine is a powerful thing, but we’ve all played a game of “telephone” or two in our lives, and we understand how easily a phrase like “Send reinforcements, we’re going to advance.” becomes  “Send three and four pence, we’re going to a dance.”

As we gather our armor we just ask that you take a few “Please do’s” and “Please Dont's" into consideration—just a few guidelines, if you will, which we believe will help us win the battle.

Please Do: Post messages to Dad often to let him know you are thinking of him—every single note will be printed and hand delivered to him.
Please Don't: Post specific messages on Facebook, My Space, Twitter, etc. regarding our dad’s condition.  We want to be sure that nobody is caught by surprise by news they have not received through the proper channels.
Please Do:  Send wishes of encouragement, inspiring thoughts, and share a positive attitude. Humor is a necessity, and ass kicking is permitted as well as encouraged if it becomes necessary.
Please Don't:  Send wishes of sympathy and “I’m sorry’s”… This request comes straight from Dad. Nothing helps more than pulling from the strength and courage of our loved ones!
Please Do: Help us to keep our parents from killing each other… if you have a free afternoon, go to lunch or a movie with our mom—anything to get her out of the house!
Please Don't:  Think for a second that this blog has replaced the telephone.  We would love to hear from you!
Thank you for being part of our army.  The love and support we feel from each and every one of you will help us to make it through every step of this process.

We’re in this to win!  Our dad is too damned ornery to let a trivial little thing like cancer take him down, and since he raised all of us to be just as ornery, the odds are definitely stacked in our favor.

With Love,
Leona, Sami, Sandi, Mindy, & Lloyd
